1. TLC by the Lake
If you want to adopt a Sheepadoodle from the comfort of your own state, TLC by the Lake is an excellent choice for Maryland residents.
With a convenient location in Maryland, you won’t have to drive out of state or pay hefty shipping costs to bring your Sheepadoodle puppy home from this breeder.
Raising Puppies
At TLC by the Lake, they take puppy raising seriously. Every week, they have specialized tasks that aid in their development.
For the first week, the puppies mostly sleep and eat. The team charts their weight and examines the pups three times daily.
They trim the puppy’s nails once a week, starting in week one. In the first week, puppies begin handling practice.
Handlers hold them in different positions. They also use Biosensors on the puppies at three days old to encourage healthy development.
During the second week, puppies are dewormed and maintained in a whelping box at an ideal temperature.
At three weeks, puppies begin playing with toys and have stress applications for their neurological development. By the fourth week, they get exposed to bathing.
Their fifth week involves the start of socializing the puppies with different people. At week six, individual time away from the litter begins, so the puppies get used to separation.
Puppies begin weaning this week, as well. By week seven, they are checked by a vet; by week eight, it’s time for them to go home.
How much is a puppy from TLC by the Lake?
Puppy prices are based on colors and size. The following list breaks down the pricing structure:
- Standard Sheepadoodle: $2,995
- Merle Standard Sheepadoodle: $3,395
- Moyen Sheepadoodle: $2,995
- F1 Mini Sheepadoodle: $3,295
- F1 Merle Mini Sheepadoodle: $3,295
- F1B Mini Sheepadoodle: $3,295
- Merle F1B Mini Sheepadoodle: $3,695
- F1B Apricot and Black Mini Sheepadoodles: $2,795
Additionally, blue-eyed Sheepadoodle puppies cost an extra $300.
Application & Adoption Process
You first fill out an application and pay the deposit fee to apply. Once those materials are received, you’ll either select a puppy from the online available puppy listings or be on a waitlist.
If you’re on the waitlist, you’ll get an appointment on selection day when your turn comes. Once you have selected your pup, you can complete the payments and take the puppy home.
Health Guarantee
This breeder offers a 72-hour health guarantee that ensures the replacement of the puppy if it passes away from a life-threatening illness within 72 hours after the time of sale.
This is a pretty short health guarantee. Most breeders will offer a year or two after the sale. This is something I’d be cautious of.
TLC by the Lake Reviews
“Thank you for checking back with us. I must say- Benson is so so sweet. But I don’t think we can actually ever call him little again. He is about 70 lbs. . . everyone loves him. There has not been a single person or dog that he doesn’t love.”

2. Hawksbill Farm
While Hawksbill Farm is located in Stanley, VA, it is within easy driving distance of much of Maryland.
If you live near the Virginia border or are willing to take a road trip to pick up your pup, this breeder might fit the bill.
Raising Puppies
Unlike smaller breeders, Hawksbill Farm can give their puppies vast space to run and enjoy playing with each other in their 5,000-square-foot facility.
The puppies spend the first few weeks of their lives being raised in this facility.
Even though they are raised in a state-of-the-art facility, they don’t miss precious time outdoors. They explore outside in a large fenced yard with their fellow puppies.
From climate control to specially designed drainage systems for waste management, these puppies have everything they need to thrive in an innovative environment.
Beyond food, water, toileting, and healthcare, Hawkbill Farm also plays and socializes the pups so they are as well developed mentally and emotionally as they are physical.
A team of five specialized workers spends all their workdays socializing with the pups and playing with them for maximum mental and emotional stimulation.
Application & Adoption Process
Once you have decided it’s time to add a puppy to your family in Maryland, you can visit this breeder’s website.
From there, you can see what the puppy’s parents and current puppies look like. You can indicate that on your adoption application if you want to get a puppy from the upcoming litters.
The adoption process is the same for existing pups outside of waiting for the puppies to arrive and mature.
After you receive confirmation that your application has been approved, you can follow the next steps from the breeder and put down a deposit.
You’ll have to play the waiting game if your puppy has yet to be born. Once the puppy arrives, you will be contacted.
Then, you’ll spend the next eight weeks getting ready for your new puppy. When your puppy reaches eight weeks, it’s time to take them home and pay the rest of the costs.
Health Guarantee
With a two-year health guarantee, you can rest assured that your pup will be free from genetic conditions for the first two years.
If your puppy develops a heritable condition during the first two years, you can either receive a full refund for a surrendered dog or keep the dog while treating the disease.
Hawksbill Farm Reviews
There are mostly positive reviews about Hawksbill. However, some customers mentioned that their puppies were dirty when they picked them up – which makes me a little nervous. I recommend you do your due diligence!
“We purchased an F1 standard Sheepadoodle puppy from Hawksbill Farm. While I would have liked more transparency about the puppy prior to pick up day, such as more photos and a video, we couldn’t be happier with our puppy.
He had no health issues whatsoever and has the sweetest temperament with people and other animals. He’s very smart and is fully house trained and crate trained and knows many commands. We would purchase again from Hawksbill Farm.”

3. Deb’s Doodles
Like Hawkbill Farm, Deb’s Doodles is within easy driving distance of Maryland.
If you live near Baltimore, you can expect less than two hours between you and your future pup if you go with Deb’s Doodles.
Deb’s Doodles specializes in a few Doodle breeds. In addition to Sheepadoodles, they breed Bernedoodles and Goldendoodles.
Raising Puppies
As a family-owned business, Deb’s Doodles ensures their pups spend their first eight weeks in a family home environment.
As soon as they arrive, the puppies are exposed to handling by humans. This makes them more likely to succeed in socialization and overall confidence as they continue developing.
The puppies spend time being handled by kids and adults, so they make great family pets.
In addition to handling, the puppies’ mental development is supported through play with toys and other fun objects.
Puppies are introduced to crates so they will be ready for crate training. What’s more, they acquire experiences of being groomed, blow-dried, bathed, and brushed.
This makes it easier for the forever family to continue these processes without much fear or resistance.
How much is a puppy from Deb’s Doodles?
Depending on your color preference, you’ll pay $3,300 for a black and white Sheepadoodle or an extra $200 for a sable pup.
Application & Adoption Process
The adoption process for Deb’s Doodles is easy. Once you pick an open litter, you can place a deposit to hold a pup from the litter.
After that, Deb will email you to notify you that your puppy is born with helpful info about how many puppies have arrived, colors, and pick-up information.
Depending on where your deposit falls on the list, you’ll be assigned a place in line for selecting a puppy. Along the way, the breeder will send you videos and puppies so you can start thinking about your preferred puppy.
As your turn comes up, you can schedule a time to select your pup and take them home.
Health Guarantee
These puppies have a two-year health guarantee against heritable diseases with some terms and exclusions applied.
Deb’s Doodles Reviews
“I lost a dog almost two years ago, a Goldendoodle, very suddenly. He was the love of my life. His name was Gus. This is why we chose Petey, because of his dad.
I didn’t think I was ready, but knew my kids needed a dog. Petey has made me fall in love with him. He is constantly by my side with every move I make. Thank you Deb’s Doodles!”
